Go eCommerce is an online platform that both Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation andSME Corporation Malaysia developed together. It serves as an active learning platform and hub that acts as a comprehensive guide for all SMEs who are keen to explore and build their businesses via eCommerce.

The aim of Go eCommerce is to enable and empower SMEs to channel or diversify their businesses digitally. The digital marketplace is vast and vibrant - trading activities are not limited by geographical boundaries and is open twenty four-seven - making it an extremely viable business direction that most SMEs must make.

It also comes with a specially made SME Readiness Tool feature where members are able to obtain information in an instant and find out what level they are at. It is also programmed to aid SMEs in choosing the best solutions, according to the tailored needs of each and every company.

In response to APEC Leaders and Ministers' instruction regarding digital economy in 2016 and the 2017 theme "Creating New Dynamism, Fostering a Shared Future", this initiative, as the 3rd phase of the O2O Initiative, keeps aiming to bring in the latest knowledge of digital competitiveness and resilience, and show the APEC region that how SMEs can outcompete in the new era with rapid digital transformation and O2O application. With abovementioned goals, we are committed to continuously providing networking, showcasing and mentoring opportunity to the APEC startups and SMEs, facilitating their access to digital and physical global value chains (GVCs) and stimulating the dynamism of innovation in the Asia Pacific.

Empowering Youth Entrepreneurship

Initiative oriented to encourage the youth (between 18 - 40 years) to venture into business. The objectives of this program are to acculturate entrepreneurship, create a paradigm shift from job seekers to employment providers, and create resilience and sustainability of entrepreneurs. After the successful completion of Phase 1 (Test the Perseverance of Mind & Physical) and Phase 2 (Increase Knowledge - Effective Business Operations), the participants will receive RM15, 000 (USD3,628) to assist them in starting the business and will be able to utilize the a Buddy System for 12 months upon the business establishment to receive advice from experienced and trained Business Counsellors.

APEC Survey on Business Environment: Government Procurement for SMEs

Malaysia and Mexico presented the results of the APEC survey on government procurement for SMEs and made some recommendations on supporting and creating opportunities for SMEs regarding government procurement.

Sectoral Game Plan to Catalyze Growth

Malaysia presented on their sectoral approach to catalyze growth. Based on data gathered in the process of formulating the SME masterplan, the Catalyst Programme was designed to promote homegrown champions with focus on 6 sectoral verticals (Led/solid-state lighting, aerospace, ship building/repair, medical devices, modern rail, food safety and halal), converging the expertise of the existing specialist agencies to avoid duplication. This is to enable high growth SMEs to move up the value chain.

SME Financing in Malaysia

The presentation provided background information on the status of financing for MSMEs in Malaysia and, e.g. funds set up by the Central Bank of Malaysia (BNM), and the initiatives of BNM to assist MSMEs, including financial advisory and awareness programs.
